Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is a non-invasive complementary therapy treatment which uses essential oils to assist the body as a whole (holistically), maintaining health, regulation and balance. Essential oils are compounds derived from flowers, stems, leaves and other parts of plants which hold the natural volatile oils. Aromatherapy aims to sooth away muscular tension whilst stimulating your senses and improving general sense of well-being in de-stressing the mind and body.

Physiological benefits:

  • Enhancing lymphatic drainage, helping to reduce fluid retention and prevent oedema.
  • Promote a sense of deep relaxation.
  • Stimulate the immune system.
  • Increase the supply of oxygen and nutrients being delivered to the tissues through increase of blood circulation.
  • Increases energy levels, removing blockages and congestion in the nerves.
  • Reduces muscular tension

Psychological benefits:

  • A general sense of well-being
  • Calm and soothe an overworked mind.
  • Reduce nervous tension and anxiety.
  • Lift moods
  • Reduce feelings of depression
  • Activates emotional memory
  • Reduces stress
  • Manages menstrual pain
  • Helps with Insomnia

During an Aromatherapy massage the essential oils, which consist of tiny aromatic molecules, are absorbed by the skin and inhaled into the lungs. These aromatic molecules then enter the blood stream and are then carried around the body where they can deliver their natural health benefits. The smell of the essential oils triggers the part of the brain which releases emotion which is why it can really affect the way you feel.

Each treatment is tailored specifically to the individual client. A consultation is carried out before the treatment begins so that the therapist can make a blend a synergistic blend specific to your needs, taking into account your medical history, emotional condition, lifestyle, as well as physical and physiological aspects – looking at your well being as a whole. We recommend you book the Aromatherapy Initial Massage (75mins) or the 90min Aromatherapy Massage for your first Aromatherapy treatment as the consultation to match the specific oils tailored to your needs takes some time at the start and it means you will have more hands on massage time.

Aromatherapy Massage has both physiological and psychological effects on a person, the massage (relaxing and soothing strokes much like a Swedish Massage) combined with the medicinal and therapeutic properties of the oils can soothe, revitalise, uplift, relax, encourage positive thoughts, boost the immune system and encourage a general sense of well-being.

Our Essential Oils can be added into our other treatments if you wish, as certain oils work very well in a Manual Lymphatic Drainage, Swedish or Indian Head Massage for example (we just charge an additional £2 for this).
