How do I book and pay for my first session?
You can book online through the website booking system or by phone or email. You will receive a booking confirmation email with all the details of your appointment. You can pay on the day via card or cash. Or if you wish to pay in advance for someone, just give us a call.
-
Do I get charged if I cancel an appointment?
There is a £20 late cancellation fee if it is under 24hrs notice or if you fail to show up to an appointment. If you are on a block booking then you would lose that session out of your block.
-
What happens on my first session?
On your first session you will go through a consultation with your therapist, which will involve some questions about your health etc to better understand the condition of your body and ensure you get the best possible treatment. We try to make the consultation as quick as possible to allow for maximum treatment time however we do have to complete this before commencing any form of treatment.
For Physiotherapy, Osteopathy or Sports Massage treatments this is a little more in depth and will include postural/physical assessments to better understand the issue and how to resolve it (consultation and assessment can take roughly 5-10 minutes dependent on the ailment).

Does Sports or Deep Tissue massage hurt?
Some areas of muscle may have some deep holding patterns (contractions or knots), these areas can feel particularly intense when deep tissue techniques are applied, however you will be asked about the level of pain as the massage progresses to ensure you are within your comfort zone.
-
What type of massage should I get?
If you are looking for relaxation and some tension release then an Aromatherapy, Hot Stones or Swedish Massage will help. A Sports or Deep tissue (Remedial) Massage is completely tailored to your needs and focuses more on muscle holding patterns, injuries, postural issues and deep areas of tension. If your ailment is more chronic and complex then Physiotherapy is advised. If you are unsure and would like to speak to a therapist, please give us a call on 0131 241 1833 or email us info@bodyworksedinburgh.com
-
What type of oils do you use?
Grapeseed oil is suitable for normal skin types and is used most often for relaxation and our deep tissue massages. A moisturising sports lotion (NAQI) is usually used for remedial/sports treatments. If you have a preference just let the therapist know during the consultation. The lotion is not greasy so is ideal if you need to go back to work etc.
-
Do you accept American Express?
We unfortunately do not accept American Express but we do accept most other debit or credit cards.
-
Are there stairs/a lift?
Unfortunately we do not have a lift available and we are on basement level so there is a set of steps to walk down. We do not have wheelchair access I’m afraid, we do however at our Morningside branch within the Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club.
